Terms of use

Last updated 7 August 2026

QuietTake is a free tool that removes background noise from audio and video. Using it means accepting the terms below.

What the tool does today

You pick a file, and your browser produces a cleaned 30 second preview on your own device. That is the whole service at the moment, and this version of it is free. Cleaning a complete file, and paying for anything, do not exist yet — so nothing here creates any payment obligation, and we are not asking you to agree to a price.

Your files stay yours

We claim no rights over anything you process. We receive no copy of it — see our privacy page for why that is structural rather than a promise.

In return, you are responsible for having the right to process what you put in. Do not use the tool on recordings you are not permitted to use.

Results are not guaranteed

Noise removal is lossy and imperfect. How well it works depends on the recording, and it can audibly change the speech as well as the noise — the stronger settings in particular can make a voice sound thin or metallic. Judge the output by listening to it.

The tool is provided as is, without warranties of any kind, and without any guarantee of availability. Do not rely on it as the only copy of anything: keep your original file.

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss arising from using the tool or relying on its output.

Fair use of the site

Do not attempt to disrupt the site or use it to distribute malicious files. Since the processing runs on your own hardware rather than ours, there is not much here to abuse — but the site itself is ours to keep running.

Software we build on

The noise removal engine your browser downloads is open source, and its licence requires that we pass its notices on to you. They are on the licences page, together with the fonts this site serves.

Governing law

QuietTake is operated from Hong Kong. These terms are governed by the laws of Hong Kong, and its courts have jurisdiction over anything that cannot be settled between us directly.

Changes

These terms will change when the tool does — most obviously if paid full-file processing ships, which will need payment and refund terms that do not belong here yet. Substantive changes come with a new date at the top of this page.
